Project Description:
FMA was chosen to prepare a Conceptual Master Plan, construction documents, and Specifications for an existing 3.39 acre neighborhood park for use by nearby Castle Elementary/ Middle School as well as the community which it’s located in. A site visit was conducted to analyze the site prior to preparing the Master Plan. The site features were assessed and decisions were made to maintain some existing features, as well as, look for opportunities to improve the overall character and function of the site. This included extensive modifications to modernize the park while maintaining the overall concept of the original design. The approved Master Plan was the basis of the construction documents and specifications. The project required working closely with City of Hazleton officials, the Hazleton Area School District, and the McKissick Associates, P.C.
Program Elements:
Playground Equipment (meets all relevant governmental standards) for 2-5 year olds and for 5-12 year olds; Added new playground surface; Renovated existing tennis and basketball courts; Added basketball court; made the park handicap accessible; Renovated and added additional walkways; and Renovated bocce ball court.
